Along with their
contemporary image, the Lunar Saxophone Quartet has contemporary
ideas to match. With an emphasis on quality that is to be
expected from trained musicians devoted to their profession, the
group's identity has been developed through a strong 'new music'
policy over the last 5 years with composers including Eric
Schwartz, Gabriel Jackson, Lucy Pankhurst, Iain Ballamy, Ash
John Long and Dave Stapleton being commissioned to write works
for the ensemble.
Using
previously unexplored formats of instrumentation and a unique
fusion of compositional styles throughout performances, the
ensembles main objective is to make 'new music' more accessible
to British audiences.
